You are a child of life. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people wont feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to manifest the glory of life that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Overeating is a common practice of life. Many people struggle with portion sizes and although often times we know we are eating past our actual hunger level we keep on eating.

Desires arise from unmet needs. Food is often used as a quick and easily accessible way to satisfy a need. Satisfying needs makes us feel good. Unfortunately, the good feeling we obtain lasts as long as it takes to swallow the food, so we continue trying to meet our needs with more food.

Once the act of overeating occurs, one will often vow to themselves that they will never do that again. This takes away from the whole process that one needs to experience to be able to help themselves to stop the overeating cycle. This vow diverts your attention away from the negative authentic feeling you would have from your actions and covers it up. By convincing yourself that that was the last time, you miss out on your real self.

It is important to be able to trust yourself. What do you really think about the 10 servings of store bought processed cookies you just ate? Only that you will never do that again? But the next day or week you are doing it again. So why not allow yourself to fully enjoy what you are eating. Be 100% aware and in the moment but listen to your body throughout (key point!). Your body can be smarter than your brain in these instances as long as you tune into it. When you tune into it you will find out vital information about yourself. You will find out what your body desires and what it needs. As you begin this process it wont be perfect but thats ok. Each step forward brings you closer to your real needs. Any imperfections are just a part of the development of your own health. Learn and keep going. Only you will know what your body is telling you truthfully but I already know that it isnt 10 servings of cookies and so do you. Be curious and engage in your health. There is no one else that can do it as well as you. I promise, You are the most perfect for the job!

This past year I have found, contemplated, experienced, created, lived, learned many things. Much happiness and gratitude I think more than any other year. My heart has been open to so many things which in turn has provided me the chance to really be in my life. I have always been of a shy personality, letting things come to me rather than going towards them myself. At the age of 28 I finally set out to practice engaging myself in situations, people, relationships, experiences that may not have been of complete comfort. Knowing that good chances they may not work how I would want. I was and am accepting of that. I knew they would still be of value to me and my soul and eventually to others as well. Some of them created worry, stress, anxiety. But during the engagements I created life for myself. I experienced feelings that were perfect for what was happening around them. Not all of them were completely enjoyable and some not quite understandable at the time. But I gained, I breathed in life. I engrossed myself in what made me feel joy or sorrow, what made me think of good and of wonder, what made me feel like Ive always wanted to. How I did thisI stepped out of what I thought I should be doing and stepped into what I truly wanted to do on a very raw, intrinsic, organic level. I created my base of happiness but kept myself open to obtain more. I did what I thought might not work but knew trying was an experience in itself no matter what the outcome. I am thankful for so many people who have helped me become aware. I have found strength and confidence through several ways, nutritionally, exercise, yoga, nature and what I would never have thought beforepeople. I would still consider myself to be an independent person. I can survive on my own no problem. But I wouldnt choose that. The experience of others has been of tremendous enhancement and value to my everyday living. I find beauty and happiness in the simplest of things. I am in love with the smile of a stranger, the bold color of a beet, the sky, the deep sincere laughter of a friend, touch, a glass of clean well water. When I focus on the good, more of it comes, when I focus on the bad, more of it comes. Focusing on the good is more enjoyable anyway. That is what I wish for as I turn 29. I believe you need to be happy in your own self before you can truly give happiness to others. I want to keep my happiness, grow my happiness and help others find theirs as many have helped me find mine.
